Private firearm transfer

Private Transfers:

At our store, we facilitate private firearm transfers where both the buyer and the seller have flexibility in the transaction process. You have the option to visit our store together or follow a two-step process, where the buyer drops off the firearm(s) initially, and the seller comes in at a later time.

Seller's Requirements:

If you are the seller in a private transfer, you will need to adhere to the following requirements:

1. Firearm(s): Ensure that you bring the firearm(s) you intend to sell.

2. Driver's License: Provide a valid driver's license as a form of identification.

3. Handgun Transfers: If the firearm(s) being transferred includes handguns, you must also present your New York State handgun license.

4. Buyer's Information: Have the name of the buyer available for documentation.

Buyer's Requirements:

As a buyer in a private firearm transfer, you have two options:

1. In-Person with Seller: You can visit our store along with the seller to complete the transaction together.

2. Separate Visits: Alternatively, you may choose to complete the transfer at a later time, independent of the seller's presence.

Essential Information:

Regardless of your chosen option, please have the following information:

1. Seller Information: Be certain that you have seller's, contact information.

2. Firearm Details: Know the make and model of the firearm(s) you are purchasing.

3. Identification: Prepare to present the necessary identification documents, based on the type of firearm being transferred:

- Long Gun (Rifle/Shotgun): You will need to show your valid driver's license.

- Semi-Auto Rifle: You will need to present both your driver's license and your New York State semi-auto rifle license.

- Handgun: You will need to present both your driver's license and your New York State handgun license.

Transfer Process - Long Gun:

If you are receiving a long gun (rifle/shotgun), you will follow these steps:

1. Federal Form 4473: Complete the Federal Form 4473 during the transfer process.

2. NYS Background Check: We will conduct a New York State background check as part of the transaction.

Transfer Process - Handgun:

If you are receiving a handgun, please follow these steps:

1. Receipt for Handgun License Amendment: You will receive a receipt that you can use to amend your New York State handgun license.

2. County Purchase Coupon: After obtaining the purchase coupon from your county, proceed with the following steps:

- Federal Form 4473: Complete the Federal Form 4473 during the transaction.

- NYS Background Check: We will perform a New York State background check as part of the process.

Transfer Fees:

Our fee is $100.00 (per firearm) + (NYS Background check fee)

Zack's Sports Inc. does not accept any responsibility for the condition of transferred firearms upon arrival.
